class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hi!<br><br>I\u2019m Niels Krijgsman. I\u2019m 38 years old at the time of writing, and I\u2019ve always had a deep love for cycling. In daily life, I tend to value structure and security\u2014but during bikepacking trips, I let go of that and embrace the unknown.<br><br>My passion for cycling started at a young age. I was always outside on my bike\u2014first doing loops around the village I grew up in, later riding to the nearby city for school. What began as a necessity eventually turned into something I deliberately made time for: longer rides, heading off to discover new places. <br><br>In 2015, I went on my first proper bikepacking trip\u2014from the Netherlands to Basel, Switzerland. That experience changed something in me. It sparked a feeling so powerful, it became addictive. After coming back, I promised myself I\u2019d keep doing this for the rest of my life. There\u2019s a unique kind of freedom you feel on the road, one that\u2019s hard to put into words.<br>Letting go of everything familiar and just going. Even the preparation is part of the adventure: gathering gear, planning routes, diving into other people\u2019s stories. It\u2019s a world of its own, one you only truly understand once you\u2019re in it.<br><br>Since 2018, I\u2019ve been cycling all over Europe with my good friend Johan van Weeghel. Together we\u2019ve built not only countless memories, but also a strong friendship that\u2019s grown with every kilometer we ride. Long days in the saddle, unexpected setbacks, stunning views, and shared meals under the stars\u2014these things create a bond that\u2019s hard to describe but easy to feel. We know how to push each other, when to joke, and when to simply ride in silence.<br><br>That connection is a big part of what makes these trips so meaningful.<br>One unforgettable moment was the day we crossed Durmitor National Park in Montenegro. We knew it would be tough\u2014but it turned out to be one of the hardest days we\u2019ve ever had. Endless climbing, breathtaking views, and finally reaching the top after hours of struggling. We were completely exhausted, but the reward was worth every drop of sweat. That day<br>tested not just our physical limits, but also our friendship\u2014and it only made us stronger. It\u2019s those moments that stick with you.<br><br><strong>Okay Biking<\/strong> is all about adventure, freedom, connection\u2014and friendship. Nature, freedom, and adventure are what fuel me. One of my biggest passions is cycling\u2014especially bikepacking. There\u2019s something truly special about heading out on my bike with only the essentials packed, ready to explore whatever lies ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bikepacking<\/strong>, for me, is the perfect blend of adventure, simplicity, and freedom. It allows me to go off the beaten path, immerse myself in nature, and travel at my own pace. Whether I\u2019m navigating forest trails, climbing mountain passes, or winding through quiet countryside roads, every trip feels like an opportunity to reset, reflect, and reconnect with the world around me.<br>I\u2019m also an enthusiastic boulderer. I love the challenge of climbing, both physically and mentally, and the meditative experience of focusing completely on a single movement. When I\u2019m not on the bike or a boulder, I often spend time birdwatching\u2014a peaceful way to connect with the rhythms of the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>My work as a Community Builder<\/strong><br>Professionally, I work as a social worker in the role of Community Builder. What excites me most about this work is the chance to use my creativity and organizational skills to create real, meaningful change in my community. I believe deeply in the power of connection\u2014bringing people together, amplifying voices, and creating environments where everyone feels seen and supported.<br>From supporting grassroots initiatives to organizing community events, my work allows me to make a tangible impact in the lives of others.
